St. Andrews and Pine Crest Schools: Two of Boca Raton's Finest

Proximity to quality education is high on most home buyers’ must-have lists. For residents of Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club, there are two exemplary institutions from which to choose.

The list of amenities in RPYCC runs long. Real estate with square footage to spare. Numerous outdoor pursuits including boating and golf. And of course, beach access and waterfront living. However, for homebuyers with children, one requirement might be at the top list—a quality school.

For those families looking to buy in Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club, the area boasts not just one standout school, but two.

St. Andrews School

  • Yearly Tuition: Ranges from $24,340 for Pre-K up to $33,300 for grades 9-12
  • Total Students: 1,280
  • Student-Teacher Ratio: 8:1
  • Average SAT/ACT Score: 1330 / 30

Located on the western edge of Boca Raton, St. Andrews is an immersive preparatory academy that serves students from pre-kindergarten through grade 12. Established in 1961, the school is a genuinely international institution with a student population representing more than 40 countries.

Though predominantly a private day school for those residing in and around Boca Raton, St. Andrews is notable for its stand-out boarding school, which is recognized by school rating site Niche, as the best of its kind in Florida.

St. Andrews is also a certified International Baccalaureate World School and one of 14 Round Square schools in the US.

Pine Crest

  • Yearly Tuition: Ranges from $21,770 for Pre-K up to $31,930 for grades 9-12
  • Total Students: 842 for the Boca Raton Campus
  • Student-Teacher Ratio: 9:1 for the Boca Raton Campus
  • Average SAT/ACT Score: 1360 / 32 for the Ft. Lauderdale Upper School

Less than two miles away from St. Andrews, is the Boca Raton campus of Florida’s top-ranked private school, Pine Crest. According to Niche, the school also appears on the list of top 40 private schools in the US.

While not a boarding school, Pine Crest has deep roots in southeastern Florida. Pine Crest’s primary campus in Ft. Lauderdale serves all grade levels—from pre-K through grade 12. Established in 1934, the school expanded its reach into Boca Raton in 1987 with a satellite campus that serves pre-K through grade eight. After completion of their first eight years in Boca Raton, students then move to the main campus’ Upper School less than 30 minutes away for their college prep years.

Complete Educations

St. Andrews and Pine Crest earn high marks for the quality of education they provide. Both schools tout 100% matriculation rates.

Beyond the commitment to academics, each institution offers athletic programs and feature an immersive dedication to the arts ensuring that students remain active and receive plenty of extracurricular experiences.

Strong alumni bases feature at both schools and help promote students maintaining a deep connection to the respective institutions well after they graduate.

Ultimately, the primary difference between St. Andrews and Pine Crest is location. St. Andrews asserts a single, self-contained campus within Boca Raton. For local Pine Crest students, once they move beyond 8th grade, their high school years will be spent at Pine Crest’s Ft. Lauderdale campus.

A Bright Future

For those parents looking to keep their teenagers closer to home when high school comes around, St Andrews provides both convenience and a quality private education. While the difference may be marginal, Pine Crest does have the prestige of the state’s top private education, with the final four years of that education occurring less than a 30-minute drive away.

Regardless of which school a parent chooses, they will rest easy knowing that the education their child receives while residing in Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club will be first class.
